Mark hails from New Orleans, Louisiana where he grew up on seafood and jazz music. He trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior his senior year while attending John Curtis Christian School. As a new Christian, he began his college education at Louisiana Christian University (formerly Louisiana College) in Pineville, Louisiana, graduating with his undergraduate degree in Psychology. He earned a Master's degree in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mark married Emerale in 1996 and they have three daughters, Abigail, Madeline, and Olivia. Mark has served in student ministry for 20+ years and was called to be the pastor at Hopewell Baptist Church in February 2022.
